Fighting Cholitas of LaPaz

During our visit to La Paz, we stopped by the neighborhood of El Alto to check out the Fighting Cholitas. These female wrestlers used to be part of the side show to wrestling events but are increasingly a main act. While most of the antics are very similar to staged wrestling back home, It does offer Bolivia's indigenous women wrestlers a chance to fight against stereotypes of gender, race and class that is entrenched in Bolivia.
